Who needs TOYS when you have a HUMIDIFIER?!?!

To most people this looks like any ordinary humidifier ...but to my beautiful daughter it is her new favorite toy! What else is there to do on a snowy Saturday morning besides befriending a humidifier? It all started pretty innocently. (More than likely she was just trying to unplug the cord from the outlet).

Then, the leg went up and over and before I new it I had a new topper to the humidifier in our bedroom!

Not only was it fun to sit on it, but the fan was running so it was blowing her hair all over and she thought that was just a BLAST!

She was so proud of herself sitting up so high...

Cheese Mom! I am just "monkeying" around!! I can just imagine what she will be into next! It is so fun having a one year old around! You never know what your day will entail!

MEET THE 9 NEW MEMEBERS OF OUR FAMILY...

We had 9 new members of the family arrive just in time for Thanksgiving dinner! Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 26) our black lab, Piper, became the mother of 9 (that's right...9) adorable puppies. The father is our yellow lab, Koda. We were blessed with 4 black pups, 4 yellow pups, and one very special chocolate pup! On the unfortunate end....we had 7 males and 2 females, so we hope people are looking for males! They will be ready for new homes on January 7th if anyone is interested!! This is Piper with her litter.

Addison adores the puppies already, she will spend many hours I am sure out in the kennel. The pups actually have it almost as good as she does with a home that is kept almost 70 degrees!

She always seems to migrate to the chocolate puppy...

Not scared at all, she picks them up and plops them down just as fast as her little arms can move!

Addison LOVES to give things kisses...my camara was a little slow so you are seeing the end of the SMOOCH!!

ADDISON HAS TWO REAL LEGS!!

Last week Addison finally got her cast off!!! 4 weeks of fun are finally over!! No more baggies over the leg for a bath, no more scratching wood furniture, and most of all...no more extra 5 lbs. of weight to haul around!! As you saw in the last post she had on a white plaster cast, she had that for 2 weeks, then she was able to get a fiberglass cast. The fiberglass cast was nice because she could get it wet which means we could take a real bath again, instead of a sponge bath with the plaster cast! Anyway, she got the cast off last Tuesday the Doctor said everything looked healed and she should have no other problems from the break. We do have to watch her leg closely to make sure it is growing at the same rate as her other leg, we will pray we have no problems with that. Here are two pictures of Addison with her second "pink" cast.

Hopefully I will get another post done soon and will keep up with it a little better. I just got a new camera and haven't been very satisfied with the pictures I am getting. They just don't seem as clear as the pictures with my old camera, so hopefully I get it figured out soon enough!!

P.S. If you didn't get to see these beautiful casts in person, have no fear...I got to keep them both!!!

Addison's OWIE!!

Last Tuesday I got a call from Addison's babysitter saying that she had hurt her ankle somehow. She wouldn't put any weight on her right ankle after she woke up from her nap, and it seemed to really be bothering her. So I headed out of work to pick her up and take her to the Doctor. The babysitter didn't really have any idea how she would have hurt her leg, she did remember another little girl falling on Addison earlier in the day but that was it. We thought maybe she just had a cramp in her leg or something from her nap. Never-the-less we went to the Doctor to get it checked out. After the Doctor looked at her we went and had x-rays taken of it and to our SURPRISE it was BROKEN!! We couldn't believe it!! The Doctor could only put a "soft cast" on it that night, needless to say Addison had that off her leg by 8:00 that night! We then went and saw the Orthopedic surgeon the next day to get on a plaster cast so she could still move around and also so it wouldn't fall off!! The Doctor thinks she may have the cast on for a month or so. The worst part of the whole thing is NO BATH!! Back to the old sponge bath, which after playing in the tub for at least 20-30 minutes every night is a BIG bummer!! We go back to the Orthopedic Surgeon this week on Thursday to have them check her cast to see if it needs re-enforced!! They think she may go through the casts quickly crawling and playing on them. The good news is that they said maybe after a week they could put a fiberglass cast on which would mean we might be able to give her a bath, but we will see!! I am happy with the one she has now, I am sure just because I don't want to see them saw off the cast she has on now to put a new one on!!! We will keep you posted! Here are some pictures of our little trooper, who has been very very brave and surprisingly happy through most of this tragedy!! The first picture shows how she is able to get up on her knees and play still (with the pacifier upside down)!!

IT'S PaRtY TiMe!!

We celebrated Addison's first birthday on September 14 with a party at our house. (or maybe I should say our garage, beings our house has yet to get completely finished since the flood...) We had lots of family there...of course we wish that our house would have been finished so we could have invited you all!!

Like most first birthday parties...the best thing is watching the birthday girl get that very first taste of cake...or in our case FROSTING!! We didn't even have to help her get her grubby little fingers into the cake!! So this is the beginning....
...and this is what Addison looked like by the time her plate of cake was FINISHED!! What a mess!
Addison had some special help eating her cake. Her cousin Reece, who turns one next month practiced for his birthday too!! To say the least, they both were thrown into the bathtub before it was time to open presents!!!
So...Does my living room look like TOYS R US or WHAT!!?!?!?! These are all the wonderful things that Addison got for her birthday. Not only toys, but if you look closely in front of the toys there are two pretty big stacks of cute clothes as well!! Addison's favorite toy so far is the POOH train that she has her hand on in the picture!! So much fun!!
Well, we survived our first year and can hardly believe it!! No major catastrophes, nor major injuries stay tuned because the second year of Addison's life has started off with a BIG BANG!! Thanks for all of you who celebrated with us and even just thought of us at anytime during this last year, which I can honestly say has been the BEST year of my life so far!!

WHERE DOES TIME GO??? REALLY? IT SEEMS LIKE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO JON AND I WERE HEADED TO THE HOSPITAL TO BRING OUR PRECIOUS GIFT INTO THE WORLD, AND NOW LOOK AT HER!!! STILL THE MOST PRECIOUS THING I KNOW AND A WHOLE YEAR OLD!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!

"GOOD MORNING EVERYONE, I AM ONE TODAY!"SO AUNT SARA WANTED TO GO OUT TO EAT FOR ADDISON'S BIRTHDAY. WE LET ANNIKA AND ZANE CHOOSE WHERE TO GO. (OBVIOUSLY BECAUSE THEY WERE THE ONES THAT WERE REALLY GETTING TO CELEBRATE!!) ANNIKA WANTED TO GO TO MCDONALD'S PLAYLAND AND ZANE WANTED "SHUCKEY SHEEZ!" NEEDLESS TO SAY ANNIKA WON THE BATTLE AND WE WENT TO MCDONALD'S PLAYLAND!! INSTEAD OF THE USUAL BIRTHDAY CAKE, ADDISON ENJOYED PART OF ANNIKA'S ICE CREAM CONE!! YUM, YUM, YUMMY!!

SO THAT WAS ALL THE EXCITEMENT ADDISON HAD ON HER ACTUAL BIRTHDAY, BESIDES GETTING THE MOST IMPORTANT BIRTHDAY PRESENT OF ALL...ANY GUESSES???? THAT'S RIGHT OUR LITTLE PRECIOUS BABY GOT A BRAND NEW FORWARD FACING CAR SEAT!! I KNOW...REAL EXCITING RIGHT!?!?!

11 MONTHS OLD...ALREADY????

So I am a little bit behind, but this is Addison at 11 months old. It is so hard to believe that in only a few short weeks she will be one!!! The following pictures are from the weekend of August 9th. Addison got to see all of her Grandparents...I have pictures from each house except for Grandpa Jeff's (surprise, surprise) we never seem to have the camera's out and ready there!! Even though we should have been snapping away watching Addison and her cousin Reece play with each other!!

Addison hasn't been a real big fan of standing for the last 11 months, but a couple weeks ago she finally started to figure it out. Of course we had to prop her up on the couch, but it seemed to work!!! This is Addison standing for the very first time...(you should ignore Mya....who is 5 months old in the background standing as well!!) This was taken at Grandpa and Grandma Primus' house in Marshalltown.
toys are stored in it! Grandma has a very similar picture of Kristin in this very basket a good 27 years ago. This is Addison at Grandpa and Grandma Thayer's house. This is the "shopping basket" that my Mom used to take all of our toys to the Grandparent's houses in. Now all of Addison's ago!!!

This is at the Primus household as well...It is a classic, isn't it??? This is Addison, Annika, Zane, and Mya. All cousins who look nothing alike!!! (can we say blonde hair and blue eyes must be a very strong gene in the Primus family!!)
This is Addison again at the Thayer's...Grandma really likes to go shopping and to garage sales for all sorts of fun toys for Addison. I think she has more toys there than at her own house!
This is probably the last post for a couple of weeks...then it will be FUN BIRTHDAY PICTURES!!! We have been extremely busy at our household trying to put our house back together post hail and flood! We have all the drywall up in the basement so this weekends fun Labor Day project will be learning how to tape and mud it!! Thank goodness for Jim and Zach, our handymen!!!

FAIR TIME!!

SO THIS WEEK WAS FULL OF FUN AT THE BREMER COUNTY FAIR. WE FIRST WENT TO THE FAIR ON TUESDAY. WE TOOK ADDISON FOR A STROLL AROUND AND THROUGH ALL OF THE ANIMAL BARNS AND SHELTERS. WE SAW CHICKENS, BUNNIES, SHEEP, COWS, GOATS, AND THE NIGHT FAVORITE HORSES!! ONE OF THE HORSES BECAME REALLY GOOD FRIENDS WITH ADDISON AS IT TRIED TO LICK HER. NEEDLESS TO SAY ADDISON WAS NOT VERY FOND OF IT!! WE WENT BACK TO THE FAIR ON THURSDAY NIGHT JUST TO EAT AT THE PORK LION DINNER AND GET SOME ICE CREAM. FRIDAY WAS THE HIGHLIGHT FROM OUR WEEK AT THE FAIR. WE WENT TO WATCH OUR NIECE AND NEPHEW IN THE BUNNY AND CHICKEN SCRAMBLES...

SO AS YOU CAN TELL THIS WEEK WAS FULL OF SUMMER FUN...WE WILL SEE WHAT NEXT WEEK HOLDS!

10 MONTHS OLD AND A BUSY BEE!!

CAN YOU ALL BELIEVE THAT ADDISON IS 10 MONTHS OLD ALREADY. WHERE DOES TIME GO?? SHE IS REALLY STARTING TO EXPLORE THE WORLD NOW BY WAY OF HER HANDS AND KNEES!! THAT'S RIGHT, OUR LITTLE PRINCESS HAS BEEN CRAWLING NOW FOR 2 WEEKS!! IT HAS BEEN SO MUCH FUN WATCHING HER FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET HER BODY MOVING. WE HAVE A LIVING ROOM FULL OF WONDERFUL TOYS FOR HER, BUT WHAT IS HER FAVORITE??? YOU GUESSED IT, THE OUTLETS (OH AND SHOES, ESPECIALLY MOM'S FLIP-FLOPS!). THANK GOD FOR THOSE FUN LITTLE OUTLET COVERS, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE HOLES THAT HAVE SOMETHING PLUGGED INTO IT?? I THINK THE LAMP CORD IS REALLY SAFE! IF ANYONE HAD ANY GREAT IDEAS ABOUT THIS LET ME KNOW. SHE ALSO REALLY LOVES TO CRAWL AFTER OUR 19 LB. CAT CALLIE. GOTTA LOVE THE CAT HAIR STUCK TO FINGERS, TOES, SLOBBERY MOUTHS, ETC! ADDISON HAS 6 TEETH NOW, 2 OF WHICH JUST SHOWED UP 2 DAYS AGO. THEY REALLY LIKE TO SHOW UP IN PAIRS! SHE LOVES TO CHOMP ON THINGS, FOR EXAMPLE RIGHT NOW IT IS A WATER BOTTLE!! WELL, I SUPPOSE WE WILL LEAVE MORE FOR ANOTHER DAY. THE REST OF THE WEEK IS FULL OF HOT SUMMER FUN AT THE BREMER COUNTY FAIR!
