Holidays 2009

Wow, we had quite the holiday season. It actually kicked off with our first Christmas in October with the Thayer side. We gathered together to celebrate Loyd and Jackie's 60th wedding anniversary and an early Christmas since 3 of us cousins were due to give birth near Christmastime. Our next Christmas was celebrated in Mt. Auburn on Dec. 13th. The Wilson family invaded my Uncle Doug and Aunt Kim's very new home, in fact, they just moved furniture in that week!! We had a great lunch and spent time catching up. The greatest thing was watching my Grandpa meet his 2 new great-grandsons Tyson and Chase. The following picture is 4 generations of Wilson's!! This was so precious, Addison sat on her Great-Grandpa's lap as he read her a story about cows (how fitting!!). I am thankful my Grandpa has had the chance to meet my complete family, he turns 89 in 2 weeks!!

Our next celebration took place in Eldora at my Dad's house on December 19th. Here is Addison opening one of her gifts.

Addison got a new baby doll, she fed her baby while Aunt Rachel fed Chase!

The next day, a snowy day at that, we were blessed to celebrate the holidays with my Grandpa and Grandma Gore. They traveled slowly in the snow with my Aunt Linda, and cousins Jennifer (and fiance from Australia Nathan) and Brian from southern Minnesota. The weather stopped some of the Minnesota family from coming, but we were glad to see everyone who came. This is Great-Grandpa and Grandma Gore with Chase and Tyson. I am very thankful we got to spend time with my Dad before Christmas, on Christmas Eve he was rushed to the emergency room with congestive heart failure. He was allowed to go home on Christmas Day, but is being followed closely by a Cardiologist.
With a major winter storm approaching we traveled to Marshalltown on December 23 to be with Jon's folks for Christmas. We stayed until the 24th when Jon's sister and family were able to join us. Here is the whole Primus family:

Here is our piece of the family:

There were tons, and tons if gifts to open. With 5 grandchildren Christmas on the Primus side is getting to be rather entertaining!

Each year when a new baby is added to the family, Jon's Dad gives them each their own pedal tractor with their name on it. We now have two, pink and blue! Jon's Dad collects tractors, in fact, their whole entire basement is full of tractors of all shapes and colors!

After we left Marshalltown, we were either going to brave the roads and head home or we were going to head to Eldora where we were originally supposed to celebrate Christmas on Christmas Day. Even though we knew neither of my siblings were going to be able to make it home for Christmas we thought since we were closer to Eldora then home we would surprise Mom and Jim with Christmas eve visitors!! Even though we couldn't have our family Christmas, Santa did manage to find Addison at Grandma Thayer's house! She got a couple movies, a book, and a new sled that she pulled the cat around the living room in! I thought I had that picture uploaded, but I guess it didn't work!
The day after Christmas we finally made it home to see what Santa had left behind! This is Addison and Tyson sitting in front of our Christmas tree and all of their presents!

This is as festive as Tyson got!

Addison had lots of gifts to open beings she had not only hers, but Tyson's to open too! She had all of them open in probably less than ten minutes! Phrase of the day "Holy Cow!!"

On Sunday the 27th we gathered at Jon's sisters house for Christmas with the Schwarck side. Here are all of Gramma Schwarck's grand kids!

Addison with yet another dolly!

We left the Schwarck Christmas to head back to Eldora for a sad occasion, Jackie, my step-Grandma passed away on Dec. 23 so we had her visitation to attend. The good that came of that visit was that our family was finally able to get together and do our Christmas at my Mom's house. Here is Addison with her pile of gifts!

Tyson tried out his new Bumbo chair from Aunt Kristin. He is holding his head up pretty good, but we will still have to wait to use his gift for just a bit longer!

Here are all of the Thayer grandbabes: Tyson, Addison, and Chase!

Last, but not least, as this post started we ended up getting to "celebrate" not just Christmas with the Thayer family, but we got to celebrate the life of a great woman. Jackie, you will be missed. This is the family at her funeral with all three new great-grandbabies!

whew! I think that is all that happened during our Holiday season! What a busy one!
